Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous treatment, meaning that it utilises your own stem cells and growth factors to stimulate your natural collagen production.
Platelet Rich Plasma is growing in popularity rapidly because of its effectiveness and has been made famous by many celebrities.
PRP can strengthen your collagen fibres and reduce the appearance of fine lines, making it a suitable treatment for many areas of the body:
When you arrive for your treatment, a topical anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area and allowed to sit and take effect for 45 minutes. A small amount of blood is then taken and spun in a centrifuge; this process extracts the plasma, full of growth factors, from your red blood cells.
The plasma is then drawn into syringes and injected into the treatment area with a fine needle. A post-treatment cream is applied. After the application of the topical anaesthetic, the treatment itself takes about 15-20 minutes.
After your treatment, you will have some swelling and, possibly, bruising. The extent of these side effects depends on your individual treatment and your body’s response to said treatment. Certain lifestyle choices can increase or decrease these side effects, and these will be discussed with you during your initial (complimentary) consultation.
For best results, we recommend three to four treatments at intervals of four to six weeks. The cost of your individual treatment depends on several factors and this will be discussed during your consultation; pricing is also available in our clinic brochure.
Clients achieve optimal results with PRP when using it as a preventative measure to delay the ageing process. It’s never too early to start thinking about taking care of your skin for life – prevention is the key to ageing gracefully.
