AquaGold is a micro-needling device made of fine, gold-plated needles – thinner than a human hair – to almost painlessly infuse the skin with a mix of dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections and skin boosters. The skin-boosting mix can include platelet rich plasma, vitamins, enzymes, plant extracts and small quantities of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. What To Expect

At the time of your treatment, your experienced Registered Nurse will prepare your skin. A topical anaesthetic is available if you need it but your treatment is not expected to be painful. You may experience some blood spotting or mild discomfort during your treatment.

Your Registered Nurse will focus on any problem areas you’ve discussed and make adjustments as required.

Safety considerations are important during your AquaGold treatment session at all our clinics. Make sure you advise your technician of any medical conditions or allergies during your consultation. We will take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety.

Pre Treatment Care

After your consultation, our experienced Registered Nurses will provide you with a skincare regime to prepare your skin with active ingredients for best results. A Retinol/Vitamin A serum needs to be applied for at least 2 weeks prior to your treatment. We can’t provide treatment to you if:

your skin is infected or you have open sores,
you are sunburnt,
you have active acne,
you have raised moles or warts in the area, or
you have had anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, chemical peels, waxing, depilatory creams, electrolysis or IPL/Laser within 2 weeks in the area to be treated.

The treatment is not recommended if you are pregnant or lactating or suffer from diabetes or blood clotting disorders. Let us know if this is your situation and we can recommend an alternative treatment.

If you have had a history of cold sores, your Registered Nurse may recommend a prophylactic antiviral therapy. Follow the directions for your particular antiviral medication.

Post Treatment Care

We know your skin will look amazing but don’t touch or rub your face immediately after the treatment.

Your skin may show some mild irritation/redness/erythema and you may have some swelling or weeping for a few days. You may experience light bruising or grazing after your treatment. If you have any concerns about your skin, please let us know.

It’s important that you look after your skin carefully post-treatment. To ensure best results:

don’t use skin care with active ingredients (hydroxy acids, Retinol and L-Ascorbic acid) for 5 days or until inflammation subsides
don’t use spray tans for 48 – 72 hours
avoid UV exposure, saunas, spas and chlorinated pools for 48 hours.

You can use makeup after 24 hours but we recommend a high-quality mineral makeup, to protect your skin from sun damage.

How long does AquaGold facial last?

Results from an Aquagold facial can be seen as early as 3-7 days post treatment and can last approximately up to 3-4 months. Depending on your treatment plan and primary skin concern, an initial course of 3-4 treatments spaced at 6 weeks apart are recommended followed by sessions 1-2 times a year to maintain and improve overall appearance of the skin.

Does AquaGold really work?

Aquagold is a form of collagen induction therapy. It varies slightly to the traditional form of microneedling in that the treatment utilises a device, which infused with a concentrated infusion serum, is stamped into the skin. And through the stamping motion is what stimulates the production of collagen which so greatly benefits our skin.
