This treatment is an injectable prescription medication that once injected achieves results of a more contoured neck profile and jawline.

What To Expect From fat Dissolving Injections

Prior to your treatment a thorough consult and physical assessment of the chin/neck area will be performed. We will go through your medical history, highlighting potential contraindications to treatment. During your consult it is important to tell us if you have any allergies to other medicines, foods, preservatives and dyes.

It is important to inform us if you have had, or plan to have any plastic surgery on your face, neck or chin. Or if you have had other aesthetic treatments such as liposuction or neurotoxins in these areas.

Are you undergoing any current medical investigations through your doctor or have you had any trips to the emergency department for any reason in the last 3 months?

Have you, or have you had, any medical conditions in, on or near the neck, including but not limited to a bleeding disorder, or difficulty swallowing?

It is important that you inform us if you are pregnant or intend on becoming pregnant in the next 3 months. There is no research to determine the safety profile in pregnancy. This treatment is not recommended in pregnancy.

It is important for you to tell us the name of all medications you are taking including medications you have received without a prescription, through the supermarkets and health food shops.

You will be informed that to achieve optimal results a minimum of two treatments are needed however in some cases up to 5 treatments may be necessary..

Possible Side Effects of Fat Dissolving Injections

All medicines have side effects. At times these can be serious. It is important to monitor and contact your practitioner should concerns arise.

Common side effects to monitor: burning, pain, numbness, swelling, redness, tingling, formation of small areas of hardness, itchiness around treatment area.

You will likely experience mild to moderate swelling of the treated area. This will last for about 12- 24 hours.

You may notice a tingling sensation while the cells are being activated. In rare cases skin infection may occur, which is easily treated with an antibiotic.

Most patients experience mild to moderate pain or discomfort at the time of injection. Ice or local anaesthetic can be used to assist with this.

Serious side effects to seek medical attention immediately:
Trouble swallowing, an uneven smile, discolouration of the
injection site, ulcer (open sore) at the injection site, unusual hair loss at the injection site and taste disturbances. It is important to note that nerve injury to the jaw can occur as a result of treatment.

If any of the following occur call 000 and seek emergency assistance:
shortness of breath, wheezing or difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lip, tongue or other parts of the body and or rash, itchiness or hives on the body. The above list includes very serious side effects that may be a sign of allergic reaction. You may need urgent medical attention or hospitalisation. These side effects are very rare.

Post Fat Dissolving Treatment Care

Apply ice to the treatment area for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off, for 24 hours. This will help reduce inflammation. The treatment area may be swollen, tender, bruised, red and inflamed for the next 2 to 7 days and in rare cases longer.

  • Avoid exercise for 24hrs.
  • Avoid touching the treatment area for 24 hours.

No treatments to the face for 2 weeks post, including but not limited to chemical peels, injectable treatments, facials, waxing, laser and brow tattooing . Please alert your practitioner if you have any questions about treatments that shouldn’t be performed post your Fat Dissolving Injections treatment.
