Can light actually help your skin?
LED light is extremely healing, helping to regenerate skin and muscle tissue. Wavelengths of light increase collagen production and reduce excess oil production, making it an ideal treatment for overall skin rejuvenation, ageing skin and acne.
Red and blue wavelengths of visible light are most commonly used, and they have different healing properties.
Red light treats the outer layer of your skin – the epidermis. The epidermis absorbs the light which stimulates more collagen production, reducing inflammation and the appearance of wrinkles.
Blue light, on the other hand, targets sebaceous glands which produce oil. Not only does the blue light reduce the activity of these glands, but it also kills bacteria on the skin which also contributes to breakouts.
Although we’re warned about the dangers of sun damage, LED light therapy is completely safe (and actually super beneficial) because unlike sunlight, it doesn’t contain damaging UV rays or burn the skin. Our patients are provided with safety glasses to protect the eyes, and our cooling technology ensures the treatment is pain-free.
LED light therapy is really gentle on the skin, and downtime is minimal so you can move on with your day after your quick 30 minute appointment! (just don’t wear makeup for 24 hours and avoid sun exposure for 14 days)
